International Nordmetall Colloquium
The International Nordmetall Colloquium brings together national authorities, industrial and scientific partners.
The presentations mainly focus on how basic knowledge can be transferred into civil and safety applications.
The colloquium focuses on the following topics:
- materials for high rate applications
- dynamic material behavior
- impact testing of materials and components
- material modelling
- processing of materials at high strain rates
- joining technologies in high rate applications
- numerical simulation of high rate events
The conference is held in Englisch.

When and where will the colloquium take place?
The International Nordmetall Colloquium takes place every year in December in Chemnitz. We announce the exact venue in the invitation and the call for papers.
How does the colloquium work?
The conference is a two-day event with a welcome evening on the eve of the conference day.
Presentations: Each presenter will have 30 minutes. These will be divided into approximately 20 to 25 minutes of presentation time and 5 to 10 minutes of discussion time.
Schedule day 1: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. presentations, lunch break, coffee breaks followed by conference dinner in the evening 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Schedule day 2: 9:00 – 12:30 lectures, coffee break, followed by lunch, departure
How do you submit your abstract?
In the Call for Papers we publish the thematic focus of the conference. We are looking forward to your exciting presentation. Please submit your abstract as a PDF via email to the contact address or as an upload via the registration page.
How are the conference presentations selected?
After the deadline, our jury will select the conference presentations from the abstracts received. Then we will inform you.
What happens to the presentations after the colloquium?
Participants of the colloquium will receive “public versions” of the presentations for download.
